Full Dentures

Losing your teeth doesn’t mean losing your quality of life. Full dentures in Roosevelt offer a reliable, time-tested way to restore your bite, your speech, and your confidence at the table. At Tomlinson Family Dental, we walk you through every stage of the process so you know what to expect and why each step matters. If missing teeth have been quietly shaping your choices, whether it’s skipping certain foods or holding back a smile, a well-fitted set of dentures can change that.

What Full Dentures Actually Do

Full dentures replace an entire arch of teeth, upper, lower, or both. They rest on your gums and work with the natural contours of your jaw to restore function and facial support. Unlike implants or bridges, they’re removable, which makes them easier to clean and a more accessible option for many patients.

Full dentures tend to be a good fit for people who have experienced:

  • Advanced decay that has left few salvageable teeth
  • Significant bone or gum loss from long-term periodontal disease
  • Extensive tooth damage that makes individual restorations impractical

The goal isn’t just cosmetic. Replacing a full arch stabilizes your bite, reduces strain on your jaw, and allows you to eat a wider range of foods again.

How the Process Works

The path to full dentures in Roosevelt takes several appointments, and that’s by design. Rushing the process leads to poor fits, sore spots, and appliances that don’t last. Here’s what to expect:

Assessment and impressions. We start by evaluating your gum health, bone support, and overall oral condition. Diagnostic X-rays may be taken as needed. Then we take careful impressions of your mouth to capture the exact shape of your ridges.

Bite record and wax setup. We establish the correct bite position and create a wax model of the denture so you can preview the shape, size, and shade of your teeth before anything is finalized.

Fabrication and delivery. Once the design is approved, your denture is crafted and delivered. On that day, we adjust the fit, show you how to insert and remove it properly, and go over home care in detail.

Follow-up visits. Pressure adjustments and bite checks are a normal part of the process. Soft spots, minor irritation, and speech changes typically resolve within a few weeks as your mouth adapts.

Full Dentures in Roosevelt at Tomlinson Family Dental

Our restorative dentistry approach focuses on fit, balance, and long-term comfort rather than a quick turnaround. Dr. Flint Tomlinson and Dr. Heston Farnsworth take the time to check your jawline, evaluate your gum tissue, and plan for adjustments before problems develop. You won’t be handed an appliance and sent home without support.

If cost is a concern, we offer a patient savings plan for eligible patients that can make care more manageable. We also recommend bringing a family member to your fitting appointment if possible. Having someone with you helps with retaining home care instructions and makes the visit feel less like a clinical errand.

Caring for Your Dentures

Good daily habits extend the lifespan of your denture and keep the gum tissue underneath it healthy.

  • Remove your denture nightly to give your gums time to rest.
  • Clean it with a soft brush and a nonabrasive denture cleaner, not regular toothpaste.
  • Rinse after meals to prevent buildup.
  • Store it in water or a denture solution when not in use.

Regular checkups matter even after you have dentures. Gum tissue and bone change over time, and a denture that fit well two years ago may need relining or adjustment. If your denture chips, loosens, or becomes uncomfortable, call us rather than attempting a home repair. Most issues are straightforward to fix when caught early.

Common Questions

How long does it take to adjust? Most patients adapt within a few weeks. Starting with softer foods and smaller bites speeds things up. Reading aloud is a surprisingly effective way to work through any early speech changes.

Can I sleep in my dentures? There are pros and cons either way, and the right answer depends on your specific situation. We’ll walk through both options with you so you can decide what works for your routine.

What if my denture becomes uncomfortable later? Tissue changes are normal over time. Routine checkups let us catch issues with fit early and make adjustments before discomfort becomes a bigger problem.
